On the morning of December 20, an incident was registered at a vehicle inspection point installed by military personnel at the entrance to the 37th Military Zone, in the community of Santa Lucía, municipality of Tecámac, State of Mexico.

According to initial reports, the soldier —who was in charge of checking cars traveling through the area as part of preventive surveillance— was with his team when a taxi from Ecatepec failed to stop, causing the vehicle to move forward and hit the soldier.

Following the impact, the officer sustained injuries to various parts of his body. Paramedics who arrived at the scene provided initial care, and he was later taken to a medical unit for further evaluation.

Military personnel and emergency responders cordoned off the area and carried out the corresponding procedures.

The taxi driver was apprehended at the scene without attempting to evade the authorities and was later turned over to the state prosecutor's office, which opened an investigation to determine responsibility.

Authorities reiterated that the checkpoints aim to strengthen security in the area and urged drivers to obey the signs and instructions of the security teams to prevent risky situations that endanger the people who work there and the motorists themselves.
