SUV Crashes Into Convenience Store, Hits Clerk in Connecticut
Police have a released surveillance video showing an SUV crashing through a Clinton gas station one week ago. The accident happened at Shell, 196 E. Main St., on the corner with Beach Park Road. The video appears to show the SUV first backing away from the store shortly before 6 p.m. Sept. 1. The vehicle then accelerates forward, turns and smashes through the front doors before barreling into the shelves of merchandise. Clinton police said it appears the SUV driver tried to avoid hitting a parked white van then accelerated instead of braking. Police said the driver Christopher Caterino, 64, of Greenfield, New York, was cited for reckless driving. Police at the scene determined alcohol and drugs were not contributing factors to the accidnet. The SUV hit the clerk and he was seriously hurt media wrote. But Police said the clerk, a 33-year-old Ol Saybrook man, is recovering at home from bruises and contusions he suffered in the crash. Police said the clerk did not break any bones and is expected to make a full recovery. |
