Suicidal Dude Drowns Because Coast Guard Can't Swim (true Story)

I can't download it from the site (tried many chrome extensions), perhaps someone can and upload it?

News link + video: https://www.infobae.com/sociedad/pol...dos-prefectos/

This may be not too gruesome, but believe it or not, this person was suicidal (took off clothes and jumped to the ocean, when he couldn't swim). The coast guard approaches and... watches from the boat as they can't do anything because they can't swim either. This happened in Argentina.

In the video you can hear indications from those in the boat telling the coast guard where the guy has sunk. "Here here, grab him by his hair"... "here, maestro" (sort of "here, dude"). Later on, when the officer doesn't jump to the water saying "I can't reach him, he's too far, I can make it 4 meters deep", a guy in the boat says "well, another one that can't swim" (referring to the officer).

Lake Lácar: the moment when a young man drowns under the gaze of tourists and the inaction of two prefects
A video circulating on social networks shows the desperate scene that ended with the death of a 28-year-old man

Two members of the Argentine Naval Prefecture were at the center of questions for their performance in the failed rescue of a young man who jumped into Lake Lácar and drowned last Monday in San Martín de los Andes. A video circulates on social networks that shows the inaction of the security force personnel that could have prevented the tragic outcome.

The Justice initiated an ex officio investigation and did not rule out progress in the investigations into the attitude of the prefects who intervened in the operation, reported the LM Neuquén portal.

The incident occurred last Monday at noon when a 28-year-old man, of Paraguayan nationality, took off his clothes and threw himself on the dock of the lake in San Martín de los Andes. "He took off his clothes, left all his belongings in the place, went up to the head and threw himself into the water," prefect Miguel Rodríguez had stated that fateful day.

Tourists and neighbors who were in the place after the day gave notice to the Police and the Naval Prefecture personnel who arrived in the area in a semi-rigid boat. In images recorded by the same people who were on the dock, the slow response of the prefects was exposed.

In a video it is seen how the man tries to swim with great difficulties while people yell at him to kick; others observe that he "does not know how to swim" and that because of the cold he already had "purple lips". At that moment the boat with the agents enters the scene: one of them is driving it, while the other does not drop the life preserver and takes a long time to dive. When he finally throws himself into the water, the young man's body drifts away.

Despite the indications of the people who watched the dramatic situation, the one who was driving the boat did not submerge and the other one got back on the water transport. The tourists suspected that the prefect did not know how to swim and therefore he did not risk it. Even when people indicated that the body was "right there", he excused himself and replied: "Okay but I don't get there, it's four meters."
After rescuing the body, the troops took him to the coast and tried to revive him
After rescuing the body, the troops took him to the coast and tried to revive him

There was one last attempt to hit the man with a stick but it was also unsuccessful. "That area is very cool, I did not arrive," he repeated again. "That's it," said a woman as the body sank into the depths of the lake.

"Unfortunately he could not save the young man," said the prefect in charge of San Martín de los Andes, Miguel Rodríguez. After rescuing the body, the troops transferred it to the coast and tried to revive it.

Witnesses to the event assured that the victim had thrown himself into the water by his own means. However, the prosecution launched an investigation to determine the cause of death.

In the case, the representative of the Public Prosecutor's Office Lucía Maggiora intervened at first, and then the prosecutor Maximiliano Bagnat, from the fourth district prosecutor's office, headed by the chief prosecutor Fernando Rubio. Bagnat ruled out "evidence of criminality."

The hypothesis of the self-determination of the young man who had been admitted to the hospital in that town is still being considered. The judicial official commented that if there is any questioning of the role of the prefects, it would correspond to the Federal Justice. The Naval Prefecture did not issue them in this regard.

nothing unusual bout that. that 28 year old doesnt know how to swim himself. you cant expect everyone to know how to swim just because they are cops. but there are life rings though.

They made his dreams come true. What more can anyone ask?

I don’t understand, why can’t people just float then. All you gotta do is hold your breath or do that one pants trick where you tie the legs and put air in it
