Strike !
The incident reportedly occurred around 5 pm yesterday evening. CCTV footage shows a four-wheeler, numbered CG-13 AY 5386 , approaching and striking approximately eight to ten women walking along the roadside. Four women from Ward Nos. 11 and 12 of Sarangarh were seriously injured in the incident. All the victims are said to be from poor tribal families. The injured are undergoing treatment at the Sarangarh District Hospital, while one woman has been referred to Raigarh Medical College due to her critical condition. Locals allege that the driver was driving under the influence. Sarangarh police have registered a case against the driver and reportedly will also take action for drunken driving. Following the incident, a conversation took place with the accused driver and his family in the presence of the tribal community's district president, Ramnath Sidar , municipal council president representative and social worker Ajay Banjare , and ward councilors. During this, it was revealed that the injured families were assured of full medical expenses. However, it is now alleged that after promising medical treatment, the accused party has backed down and is suggesting the matter be settled in court. This has caused outrage among the victims' families and local residents. |
