Speedy Biker Hits Woman and Her Bicycle on a Dark Road
The Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 rider being YouTuber Rider Rajdeep Saha, admitted in his shared video that he was traveling at 75 km/h. This speed is excessively high for a standard, undivided city or semi-urban road in India where pedestrians and cyclists are common. The rider noted that a four-wheeler moving ahead of him created a blind spot. Defensive driving dictates that a rider should slow down when their field of vision is blocked by a larger vehicle, which he failed to do until it was too late. Because of his high initial speed, even though he braked and brought the impact speed down to 20 km/h, he could not stop completely before hitting the bicycle. The woman attempted to cross or cut across the active lane of the road without properly checking for oncoming fast-moving traffic. On Indian roads, smaller commuters and cyclists frequently cross lanes abruptly without signaling, creating sudden obstacles for other motorists because they're dumb as a rock. While the woman made an unpredictable and unsafe maneuver on her bicycle, the biker bears primary responsibility under standard road safety rules. High-performance motorcycles like the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 require strict speed management. Had the rider been traveling at a safer local speed (e.g., 40–50 km/h), he would have had ample time to react, swerve, or brake to a complete stop regardless of the bicycle's erratic movement. Again speed & dumb people create an accident. |
