Re: Snapped Cable on Mt Olympus Catapult Ride Creates Close Call for 2 Riders
The Catapult ride is based upon Bungee Cords which are stretched then constrict back to their normal, relaxed length once gravity and velocity have lessened. In terms of The Catapult, the ends tied to each tower are raised to a height which exceeds the constriction rate of the cables to prevent container (metal cage the occupants are in) from impacting with the ground. Once the latch of the container is released then the bungee cords will contract with each rise and fall resulting in the cables returning close to a relaxed form. It is then the ends tied to each tower are lowered to allow the container to touch the ground and the occupants to exit. Hope that is clear enough without too much technical explanation. |
