Re: Singapore Superbiker Dead Hit By Tyre
That wasn't a tyre, that was a truck tyre and wheel. If you've ever made the mistake of trying to lift one then you'll know all too well how heavy they are, that's why most people use special hoists to install and remove them. The impact for that biker is much the same as running into a tree head-first at 90mph... |

Re: Singapore Superbiker Dead Hit By Tyre
They should be about 1:0. There is absolutely no reason why ANY vehicle should reasonably lose a wheel these days, with the manufacture and quality control methods we have now, wheel stud or bolt failure SHOULD be damn near extinct. But sloppy or non-existent maintenance and drivers that don't do even basic checks when the vehicle is stopped means that it actually it seems to be becoming more common. 5 minutes taken to walk round and tap each stud or bolt with a hammer would make all the difference as a tight fastening rings like a bell whereas a loose or damaged one sounds dull. In fact I'm told that, with experience, it's possible to tell from the sound whether the fastening is loose or whether it is damaged and liable to fail. But, once again, laziness and cost-cutting to maximise profits is, instead, COSTING LIVES. It really is time for people to grow up, wise up and realise that money is not more important than lives for the simple reason that life cannot be bought. Maybe this needs to be illustrated, graphically, to those that do... |

Some haulage company is going to be in very deep shit, our thoughts are with the rider's family, it should never have happened. RIP biker friend.
