Semi on Ontarion Highway Hits a Car Killing the Driver
Canada. At approximately 8:00 AM on Tuesday, the driver of a passenger vehicle, identified by the Ontario Provincial Police as a man from British Columbia, was pronounced dead at the scene after a semi truck went off road and tried to steer onto the highway again and during this maneuvre it hit and tilted over into a car travelling in the opposite lane. A passenger inside the semi truck sustained minor injuries. The collision resulted in a complete closure of Highway 17 in both directions for roughly 11 hours while emergency crews cleared debris and inverted vehicles. The roadway officially reopened just before 7:30 PM that evening. The East Algoma OPP detachment is spearheading the ongoing investigation, heavily supported by the North East Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement team. |
