Second-story Wooden Deck Collapses with 9 Law Enforcers on It
Four U.S. Marshals, two DEA officers and a sheriff deputy were injured when a second-story wooden deck collapsed on July 21, 2026, during a tactical raid in Huntsville, Missouri. A joint task force was executing an arrest warrant at an apartment complex on Vaunita Street as part of Operation Adam's Watch, a nationwide sweep targeting non-compliant sex offenders. Officers were seeking Jacob Alexander Munoz, 26, a convicted sex offender wanted for violating his probation. As 9 heavily geared officers lined up on the wooden balcony outside the apartment door, the structure cleanly detached from the building. It acted like a trap door, dropping the officers several feet to the ground in under two seconds. Despite the sudden impact and heavy gear, no law enforcement weapons accidentally discharged during the fall. The suspect, Munoz, was not inside the apartment at the time of the collapse. After learning about the incident, he turned himself in to the Randolph County Jail later that day. |
