china, An unlucky moped rider was crushed by a wall in horrific footage but escaped with just broken legs.

A digger on a construction site haplessly pulled down the structure right on top of the scooter crushing him under rubble.

The rider, who was identified by his surname Zhong, appeared to be in the wrong place at the wrong time as he was passing by an active construction site.

CCTV footage from the worksite in Shenzhen City, in South China’s Guangdong Province, captured the horrific moment Zhong rides his scooter near to the wall, which is pulled down by an excavator.

The lengthy structure, which was demolished as part of a local redevelopment plan, collapsed on top of Zhong, burying both him and his scooter in rubble.

Another scooter rider as well as a pedestrian both escaped a similar fate, as the top of the wall missed them by a foot or two.

Zhong survived the accident and was found to be still conscious while buried under the torn-down wall.

Workmen at the site as well as stunned passers-by called authorities with paramedics later freeing Zhong and taking him to hospital, where it was confirmed that he had broken both his legs.

The man is now recovering in hospital, but he and his wife will be expecting compensation from the construction firm for the traumatic injury.

Reports did not say whether the excavator operator has been allowed to keep his job or whether he was arrested by authorities.

Zhong’s wife, who is by his bedside at hospital, said: “This is definitely the fault of the construction company – they did not take the necessary.

No safety precautions whatsoever, no flagmen, no coned off area... nothing, just an idiot in an excavator, a wall and another idiot on a scooter who should of been a little more aware of his surroundings.
