School Bus Crashes into Cars and Motorcyclists at Intersection, Killing One
In Bhopal, a speeding school bus, allegedly with failed brakes, tragically killed a 30-year-old woman, ayurvedic doctor, Ayesha K, at Roshanpura traffic signal. She was waiting on her scooter, was hit and dragged 50 feet by the bus killing her on the spot. The uncontrolled bus hit several vehicles, injuring at least four others, including a businessman critically injured. Among the injured is a 58-year-old businessman from Nasrullaganj, who came to Bhopal for his brother's heart surgery. He was said to be critical and admitted to the ICU ward of a private hospital. The bus reportedly was 15 years & 8 months-old and its registration had not been renewed. The vehicle has been seized. The accident led to traffic congestion in the area while the errant bus driver and the conductor fled the spot. Ayesha's uncle, Dr Shakeel Mansuri, who runs a private clinic near Apsara Talkies, told that Ayesha was a BAMS graduate and was interning at a local govt hospital. She was the only daughter, and her father, Zahid Khan, works as a manager at a bank. The family was preparing for Ayesha's wedding scheduled for next month. Police have taken the bus owner, Pravesh N, into custody. N. reportedly purchased the vehicle last month from the operators of a school/educational society. The management of the International Public School (IPS), to which the bus belonged, allegedly attempted to avoid accountability by fabricating a backdated affidavit declaring a change in bus ownership, police investigations have revealed. After the forgery came to light, the police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against both the buyer and the seller, and arrested them. |
