Sand Truck Crashes into People and Houses, Killing One
A truck carrying sand crashed into many people and houses on the roadside killing one person and injuring four others yesterday morning. At around 8:15 a.m., the sand truck, driven by T. Van D, 34, reached an intersection and a motorbike in front of him turned onto the road. The truck driver swerved to the right to avoid the motorbike but it but was too late. The truck then collided with 3 motorbikes, crashed into a row of houses along the road and flipped over. Ms. T. T. T. T, 53 years old, was selling groceries in front of her house when the car hit and killed her. The accident scene, which was more than 20 meters long, was littered with debris from damaged motorbikes and cars. Some passersby stopped their vehicles and tried to help the victims. Ms. L. T. V. (the victim's neighbor) said that when she was inside her house, she heard a very loud noise. She ran out and saw a truck that crashed into parts of her house. Nearby, sand from the truck bed fell down and buried Ms. T.T.T.T. Four were people injured in the accident and were transferred to the Central General Hospital, about 13 miles from the accident site. A hospital representative said that a victim, N.T.T, 36, was crushed from the thigh down and lost a limb above the knee. L.T.T., 4, her son, had minor injuries. Mr. T.V, 52, suffered a traumatic brain injury and Ms. N.T.T, 62, suffered a broken femur and a torn leg muscle. |
