With dozens of competitive drivers racing through a course of narrow roads with dangerously low concrete curbs something was bound to go spectacularly wrong.
And as these images show, the driver of one of the cars is sure to be nursing some sore injuries following a dramatic crash.
Video footage captured from on-board one of the racing cars shows a street race taking place, believed to be part of the Russian Touring Car Championship.
As reported by Motor Authority, the video shows a number of hatchbacks racing around a circuit which looks full of dangerous hazards, such as low curbs and walls.
But as the race develops, a battle quickly ensues between two cars.
As the driver in car number 72 was no doubt cursing his luck after being passed by car 61, things quickly took a turn for the worst.
The driver in car 61 tries to keep up his speed to maintain his newly-advanced position but as he rounds a corner at high speed he smashes straight into a tyre wall.
The force of the impact causes an almighty crash with car 61 performing a mid-air roll.
Fortunately, the racer in car 72 skilfully negotiates his way around the damaged vehicle preventing further devastation.
The condition of the driver involved in the crash is not known.
