Yea that definitely had nothing to do with the fueling process... perhaps he accidentally set off his suicide bomb prematurely.

It's a propane plug by the looks of it; doesn't look like a regular petrol bowser nozzle. I reckon the tank ruptured and kaplooey.

That's natural gas, the car is modified to accept that yellow tank, which has an expiration date but some people keep using it after it has expired. Actually, this kind of accident is very common in South America, see below:
