Re: Red Beard Performs Scottisch Screw

Idk...looks like an over reaction from the red beard guy...he could have slowed a little bit and just moved close to the left without just jerking the wheel to the left...he had enough space and time to just move a bit over.

Re: Red Beard Performs Scottisch Screw

at least the other guy stopped - when faced with a similar situation at night years ago, (fortunately) we just had a nice graceful 90 degree spin but the other 2 cars just kept going

"maybe" a little harsh :)

he had already seem to lose it when heading to the right, so by the time he went left, he had no real control (not in that amount of time anyway)

when you see 2 cars coming towards you at speed, it isn't easy. there is no time to think. you know what is happening, but it is only afterwards you get to be scared and think about it. it is all about instinct :)

Its about reflexes and driving skills.. you should leave instinct out of this otherwise you end up as redbeard

He instinctively wanted to avoid the upcoming traffic so gave a good pull on the steeringwheel..
But the lack of driving skills (i.e. Avoiding objects on high speed) caused him to overreact

and obviously you have got out of the exact same situation as redbeard yourself . . . . and all without any form of advanced driving training

Driving way too fast on a narrow road like that.

minka1 is completely right!! I did notice that, maybe that's why he was so calm.. cause he knew he fucked himself over

No over-reaction from the driver in the camera car. He'd just come over a crest when he threw the anchors out, the car hadn't had a chance to settle back down onto it's suspension after being unloaded over the crest so the left front wheel braked normally but the right front wheel under-rotated due to being less weighted, at that point the car was just going straight to the wall as the under-rotated right front tyre had, effectively, no grip on the road. Hitting the brakes in that situation is an automatic and understandable response, but in that situation his best option was to release the throttle and steer slightly towards the grass with engine braking slowing him. But, that's a tough thing to learn as it means overriding natural human survival instinct which is to hit the brakes when you see something coming straight towards you...
