Police Run Over Man
   The incident occurred in Montebello, California; a police cruiser responding to a call struck a man who was crossing the street, and the victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. |

January. Police investigation and camera footage reveal that the officer was responding to a report of a possible wrong-way driver or a suspected DUI incident. The officer was driving at considerable speed, without flashing lights or sirens. The victim was still on the pedestrian crossing when the traffic light turned green for the officer. The victim was around 60 years old and a resident of the Golden Manor Retirement Center. A witness said "I know him,". "He's a very, very good guy. He's very friendly with everybody and all the residents are worried for him." "I always wave hi to him because he's out on the balcony in the morning." The victim was taken to the hospital where police say he's listed in critical/stable condition. However, the witness told things are not looking good. "No, he not ok," she said. "We talked to his sister, and he's very, very sick. We don't know. He's very sick." No criminal charges have been filed against the Montebello police officer involved in the collision. |
