A Miami-Dade police officer had to be cut out of her cruiser after an early morning accident in Northwest Miami-Dade.

The crash happened just before 6 a.m. last Saturday along NW 119th Street and 10th Avenue.

Witnesses say the driver of a Toyota was heading southbound on 10th Avenue.

He had a blinking red light. The officer was headed eastbound on NW 119th Street.
She had a blinking yellow light.

The two vehicles collided causing the police cruiser crashing into a concrete fence post, trapping the officer’s legs under the dashboard.

She radioed for help as witness Elmer Neal tried to calm her down.

“She was telling me she wanted to get out, she wanted to get out.
I told her to relax, relax, they will be here for you,” said Neal.

Paramedics had to use the Jaws of Life to cut the officer out of the patrol car.

She was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The other driver was not hurt.
No word on whether any charges will be filed.

Blinking red light is the same as a stop sign. Blinking yellow has the right away but should proceed with caution.

around here (Arizona) blinking red is the same as a stop sign, and we dont have blinking yellow, so cant help you with the yellow light...

over here when green changes to red, a yellow light blinks 2 or 3 times before it goes red.


when red changes to green, the yellow light goes on for a second at the same time as the red before they both go off to show green.
