SAN MATEO, (March 2, 2024) — Two drivers were saved from die crushed for one avalanche of rocks on the Central highway, at the height of the San Mateo District, in Peru. As a consequence, traffic was paralyzed, meanwhile in Yauyos, the road was affected after the overflow of the Cañete river.
Drivers went through moments of terror when they saw the fall rock rain that crushed everything he found in his path, including two vehicles that circulated on the highway. Fortunately, the drivers only came out with a few minor injuries.
The shocking event occurred precisely between kilometers 95 and 97 of the Central highway, at the height of the Cacray sector in Saint Matthew, province of Huarochirí. It is known that this avalanche was caused by the torrential rains that the Peruvian highlands.
After the shocking avalanche of rocks, the road was seriously damaged and useless for the passage of hundreds of vehicles, so traffic was paralyzed both ways of the road.
Subsequently, the authorities carried out the first works to remove both the rocks and the affected vehicles; however, the constant fall of rocks complicated the work of the company Deviandes.
To protect the hundreds of motorists who circulate on this road, the Central highway was closed, from the Corcona to Casapalca. It will remain this way until the road is fully released and repaired. It should be noted that this is one of the main routes that connects the capital with the Central saw.
