Paraglider Crashes into Power Lines in Yuba County

A paraglider was left dangling from power lines in Yuba County for three hours as onlookers stood by helplessly waiting for first responders.

Dave Jewell, owner of Blue Sky Powered Paragliding, was nearby working with other paragliders when the accident happened.

He said the paraglider changed directions because he thought the wind changed, which is what he believes caused the mishap.

“Unfortunately for him as he pulled out the right wingtip, one of the suspension lines that’s really strong caught the edge of a tree and it swung him around like a tetherball,” Jewell said.

Jewell explained that the vehicle surrounding the man did what it was supposed to do – save his life. He said he believes paragliding is one of the safest forms of aviation.

The paraglider had over 20 safe landings before and wasn’t seriously injured.

Jewell thinks the biggest bruise may be to his ego. “He made the best decision that he thought at that time,” he said.

“I think people that are flying those things are taking some risks. Too much risk for me,” said Edward Okray, owner of E Transmission Factory in Olivehurst.

Both he and Rebekah Wright, owner of the Western Bat Specialists, often watch paragliders in the field across from their business.

“I watch them pretty much every other day when they’re out here. It’s beautiful,” Wright said.

But Wright never expected a paraglider to crash into a power pole 5 PM.

VERY lucky there was no cook-up, the stupid idiot. We see countless other videos of guys as if they're sexually attracted to current.
