Overloaded Elevator with Firewood Collapses with Groom's Brother Inside
India. Due to an ongoing LPG gas cylinder shortage, a family was forced to use firewood to cook the wedding feast. To transport the heavy logs of wood, they used a temporary passenger lift installed at the guest house. While the lift was carrying the wood from the third floor, the cable snapped, causing the elevator to crash straight down to the ground floor. The victim, Jainul, the brother of the groom, was trapped under the heavy pile of wood inside the wreckage.  Jainul was rescued from the debris by wedding guests and rushed to the Hospital. He suffered serious injuries but is reportedly in stable condition and recovering. The Police have reviewed CCTV footage showing the moment of the crash and are investigating the guest house for safety negligence and improper installation of the temporary lift. Some reports indicate that the celebratory atmosphere was shattered, and the remaining festivities were called off following the trauma of the accident. |
