Opel Astra on Railroad Crossing Gets Hit by a Freight Train
On Sunday, April 5 at 2:53 at a railroad crossing at Strzelecka Street in Kluczbork, Poland a passenger car collided with the train. The 41-year-old resident of a Opel Astra, driving from Chocianowice, stopped in the opposite lane before the railway crossing. After a moment he turned on the hazard lights and entered the crossing. Then, ignoring the safety rules, he began to turn back on the crossing. After a while, he slid off the tracks. The driver, trying to pull off the track, put the car in reverse and the car stalled on the track on the other side of the crossing. For over an hour he did not inform the emergency services about the event despite the numbers given on the yellow sticker. Only after an hour one of the people who appeared on the site called the number on the yellow sticker. However, it was too late. A freight train from Bąków rode along the track and crashed into the car. One of the people also gave the train driver signs with a flashlight but to no avail. The car was pushed by the train for almost 100 meters. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. |

Re: Opel Astra on Railroad Crossing Gets Hit by a Freight Train
I took the NYC Transit Track Safety course. They use similar signals. You pan a flashlight side-to-side, similar to shaking your head "no", and the train will stop. There is a saying in the NYCT that, yes, you can stop a train with a flashlight, it's true.
