Re: Oil Blowout Mishap on an Oil Platform
I don't think people can really fathom the technical accomplishments of the recent BP drill. It was the deepest drill ever (35,000 ft), and the seafloor was at 11,000 ft. At 11,000 ft the water pressure is fucking 4,500 psi! This obviously wasn't it but this shit is fucking dangerous and very powerful.

Seriously Bestone, the man with all the experience on the job just killed that kid. Wow I bet he felt like shit and still does. On a side note, they need to get those lens cleaners like on the Indy car camera's so we could see some aftermath.

Used to do Instrumentation on drilling rigs. We had pump pressure sensors connected with a hammer union, after a while i got smart and BS'd a rig-hand to hammer it off for me claiming we weren't legally allowed to disconnect the sensors from their standpipe... 5k-10kPsi will cut you in half or turn an unsecured piston sensor into a mortar shell! It wasn't very much fun working on the rig floor while they were slamming tools around... and extremely frustrating trying to troubleshoot wiring and sensors. |
