Nissan Pick-up Truck Hits Two People on a Motorcycle
Malaysia, The pickup driver, 32, suspected of the hit-and-run case on the highway, yesterday, has been detained. The motorcyclist, a 53-year-old local man, fractured his collarbone and ankle injury while his 49-year-old wife suffered serious injuries. The woman fractured ankle and right ribcage as a result of the hit and run. The suspect tried to cut another motorcycle but failed to avoid the motorcycle of the victim hitting the right side of the motorcycle. |

The pickup truck driver who crashed into a large motorcycle yesterday, causing serious injuries to a couple, was trying to overtake another motorcycle but failed, so he lost control and crashed the large motorcycle. He only went to the police station to report the incident about 5 hours after the incident! The driver was subsequently detained for two days to assist in the investigation, and the police launched an investigation under Section 42 (1) of the Road Traffic Act 1987 (reckless and dangerous driving). Assistant Director Mohammad Zamzuri, head of the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division, issued a statement today to confirm that the accident occurred at 2:30 pm yesterday, and the police received a report from the truck driver at 6:55 pm on the same day. He revealed that the large motorcycle involved in the accident was driving straight in the left lane, and the driver of the pickup truck was believed to be trying to overtake another motorcycle but failed, causing him to lose control and hit the large motorcycle from the right. He pointed out that the Indian driver (32 years old) was not injured. He later reported the case to the police station. The police then detained him to assist in the investigation and held him in the Jinma Police District Headquarters Detention Center for two days for further investigation. “The driver claimed that he did not stop and leave the scene because he was afraid of being beaten by the public.” The accident occurred at around 2:30 pm yesterday on the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) towards the Duta Road toll plaza. A couple was riding on a large motorcycle when they were suddenly hit by a pickup truck, causing the couple and their motorcycle to overturn several times and slide for several meters before stopping. Both of them were injured. |
