Re: Nice Little Tap
tossed like a toy bus At approximately 7:00 a.m. on Monday, March 31, the accident occurred on the Bogotá-Tunja highway, near the municipality of Gachancipá. Two intercity buses, one from Copetrán and the other from Cootranszipa, collided before the El Roble Toll, leaving two dead and more than thirty injured. The fatalities, according to authorities, were a woman identified as Elza Garzón Forero, 59 , who was taken to a hospital in Tocancipá but died from the severity of her injuries; and a street vendor, whose identity has not been revealed but who was confirmed to have died at the scene of the crash. According to information provided by firefighters and the Governor of Cundinamarca, Jorge Emilio Rey, a total of 40 people were affected by the road accident. Of these, 32 required medical treatment, while another eight suffered only minor injuries and were treated on-site. Among those victims is Javier Mairaima, a man of Venezuelan origin who, seconds before the crash, had boarded the bus, unaware that he was about to experience one of the most terrifying experiences of his life. Security cameras in the area recorded the exact moment the Cootranszipa bus stopped to pick up a passenger, and seconds later, the tragic accident occurred. That man is Javier Mairaima, 47, who was on his way to work as a construction technician in the municipality of Chía, according to his sister. He had barely taken his seat when the Copetrán bus, traveling at high speed, brutally collided with the rear of the other vehicle, causing it to overturn and roll several meters on the road. In a matter of seconds, the passengers were thrown into the air, some trapped between the metal frames of the car body, and others, like Javier, were thrown out the windows by the force of the impact. The tragedy left Javier seriously injured and his family devastated. His sister, Raisa Mairaima, told Citytv about the anguish she experienced upon learning of the accident and seeing her brother lying on the ground. " I ran from work to the scene and saw my brother lying completely on his back, unable to speak or breathe. I didn't know what to do. The report details that Javier suffered mild head trauma, complicated facial trauma, and blunt thoracoabdominal trauma. He was also intubated at the scene due to the severity of his injuries. The Cundinamarca Traffic Police reported that they are analyzing the possible causes of the accident. Among the hypotheses being considered is the Copetran bus's excessive speed, which may have prevented the driver from reacting in time to avoid the impact. |
