Motorist Plows into a Police Car Working a Crash Scene
St. Louis, MO - Two police officers in St. Louis, working a crash scene, barely escaped being plowed down by an oncoming vehicle.
The driver apparently didn't notice the officers directing traffic.
One officer jumped over the median into the east bound lanes to get out of the way of the crash and spinning patrol car, the other officer ran down the highway.
They're lucky they're fortunate that they weren't hurt.
People who saw the video were stunned.
"That's crazy people need to be careful and watch what they're doing pay better attention when they're driving," said a witness to the crash.
It all started on interstate 70 near West Florissant.
Police were called when a car flipped.
The people inside the vehicle ran away.
While attempting to avoid that wreck another car hit a big rig.
Police were trying to divert traffic and keep people safe when their patrol car was hit, a scary close call.
It's very dangerous, they do a job a lot of people can't do and most people won't do.
Police say no one was seriously injured in all the wrecks.
Police say they work a lot of accidents along this stretch of 70 when it rains.
It appears there's poor drainage, water bubbles up on that pavement and there is a lot of hydroplaning and so it gets real slick so there's water on the pavement.
He says the driver of the white car will be ticketed.
