Afraid of getting beat up, but not afraid of injuring/killing innocent people walking on the sidewalk.

Who knows. There was another car, the one that took off after them, basically blocking the road and had their door open, very well could have been in fear. The driver had to not totally crash into that car as well as get on the sidewalk to get past it. Sometimes these getaways are legit. Like that family in their suv that was being pursued by raving lunatic motorcyclers, they surrounded the vehicle and tried smashing the windows and the driver floored it and had to run over some guys to get away. |

Yeah, these weren't just run-of-the-mill pedestrians out for a trip to the Farmer's Market with their college roommates. I'd love to see the 1-2 minutes *before* this car sped off. Like was said earlier- they were definitely "boxed in" and surrounded by a group of people out to hurt/kill/steal/etc. The dude getting hit was obviously not the driver's intention (the way I'm seeing this) I once took a wrong turn leaving the Staples Center in LA after a Kings game and found myself in a similar situation: Random vehicle blocking my lane, 4-5 people coming out of random places and quickly approaching my car- I'd have been carjacked if it weren't for the LAPD car that was suspicious of *me* and following at a distance. I'd never (before or since) been so happy to see a cop turn the corner behind me. They all piled into the car blocking me and floored it. Did the officer go after them? Nope, pulled me over. He said he didn't notice them. No way he missed them. But in his defense he did immediately leave me and tear off after them the instant I told him what had just happened (probably also lost any suspicions as soon as he made contact- wearing my jersey, car full of hockey merchandise, LA LIVE parking pass, etc.). Lol. |
