Motorist, on a 3 Days Drinking Binge, Crashes into Cars and Kindergarten Wall
Mexico. A 60-year-old driver is fighting for his life after crashing his Nissan Tsuru into a parked KIA Sportage, a Nissan city cab and into a kindergarten wall while allegedly driving under the influence on Monday morning. The motorist, identified as José S, was operating the vehicle illegally as an unlicensed "pirata" taxi servicing the steep hills of the sector. Emergency responders and local firefighters had to deploy jaws of life to cut through the mangled wreckage. His legs were severely pinned inside the crushed cabin. He was extracted unconscious and in critical condition, then rushed by paramedics to the Hospital for emergency surgery. Traffic authorities at the scene confirmed finding open beer cans in the front seat and a cooler filled with alcoholic beverages in the trunk. Neighbors and witnesses later stated that the driver had allegedly been on a three-day continuous drinking binge prior to getting behind the wheel. Outraged residents are now demanding that municipal authorities immediately install speed bumps at the dangerous intersection, noting that the crash occurred dangerously close to the school's regular dismissal hour. Residents are also calling on the Transport Institute to regulate and crack down on the numerous unlicensed pirata taxis operating in the area, citing that many of these drivers lack formal licenses and operate poorly maintained vehicles. |
