Motorcyclist Towing Trailer Crashes on a Rising Drawbridge in Daytona Beach
A close call was caught on camera on a bridge in Florida last weekend. Video shows a motorcyclist crashing on a rising drawbridge in Daytona Beach on Saturday morning, narrowly missing falling into the Halifax River. The Georgia biker was in town for bike week. He crashed through a lowered traffic arm and then fell or jumped off his bike. The motorcycle ended up dangling over the river by its trailer. The man was taken to the hospital with injuries that were described as not life-threatening. He told police he didn't see the lowered traffic arms because he was wiping rain off his helmet's face shield. Police said the crash caused $5,000 in damage to the motorcycle. |

Re: Motorcyclist Towing Trailer Crashes on a Rising Drawbridge in Daytona Beach
Hell look at the railing gap as the cycle skids to a halt. Just beginning to separate and a reasonable incline yet. If he had gunned it he would have hopped across a 12" gap at most. $0 damage. Maybe a traffic ticket at worst. If he did drop his cheesy street machine in the rain-slicked landing, at least he would have gone down like a man. |

I say BS to "wiping rain off his face shield." Lies to avoid a wreckless driving ticket! He had a full rain fairing on that motorcycle. He had his eyes off the road to miss that flashing gate. He was probably texting or messing with his GPS.
