Mexico. On Saturday, July 4, a large mobile crane belonging to the company Cicsa collapsed and overturned at Dock 1 of the Isla del Carmen Industrial Fishing Port in Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche.

The incident unfolded during operations to transfer heavy equipment onto a logistics support vessel. As the crane was executing the lift, the concrete base of the dock fractured and gave way beneath one of the outrigger stabilizer jacks.

This caused the heavy machinery to lose stability and roll onto its side, crashing onto the vessel and sending parts of its rigging into the harbor. No fatalities were reported.

Responsibility and blame were centered on the operating company, Cicsa, for conducting high-tonnage maneuvers without verifying the dock's structural load limits or reinforcing the stabilizer outriggers. Port safety authorities immediately launched an investigation into their operational protocols.

If the structural evaluation proves Cicsa failed to cross-reference the heavy-tonnage maneuver against Dock 1's maximum load limits, the company faces severe structural damage liability fines and potential multi-month suspension of its heavy machinery operational permits within that port.
