Re: Mobile Crane Lifting Accident

They're trying to install a gantry crane. What's the betting they ignore the fact it might have been damaged and use that one anyway

Re: Mobile Crane Lifting Accident

On further inspection, I think it's the man holding the guide rope that finally unbalances it See how he gives it a tug as the load is coming down and that's the final straw that sends the crane tipping over.

Actually the crane operator 'topped it off' two times, lowering the lifting arm a slightly bit.
Once on 1/3 of the video and the second time Just before collapsing

By lowering the arm the load gets further away from the crane and becomes "Heavier", in the sense of the counterweight needed becomes more to keep everything in balance

Re: Mobile Crane Lifting Accident

Causes the always interesting but very rare choice called, "do I stay in the cab, or do I try to get out whilst the getting is good" phenomenon.
