I worked in a plating shop for a bit and that looks like the acid bath used to etch the metal before plating. He looks like he was possibly draining it for a new batch and well, something went wrong lol.

I was always told when mixing acid and water, to add the acid to the water, and NOT just add water into a container of acid, due to the explosive reaction from a small amount of water interacting with a large quantity of acid. I think you are right, this is an acid bath, and maybe the guy just opened the water valve, and when the water hit the acid, the shit hit the fan. Wonder if he survived? |

The T-pipe connector failed the high pressure leak test in the "look for bubbles" water tank. The resulting explosion blew a spout of yellow brown sewage water into the air, along with the apple cores, cigarette butts, used tampons and condoms that were disposed of in the tank by factory workers. Yes, I have worked in industry and have found all the aforementioned debris in metal working fluid central sumps... |
