'Mechanized Death'' Classic Scare Video!!
Link to movie at the end of this text Created in 1961 by the Highway Safety Foundation and Safety Enterprises, Inc., "Mechanized Death" is a legendary driver's education scare film that underscores the dangers of speeding and reckless driving. Made in an era when automobiles lacked the kind of modern safety features and crash-resistant designs that we take for granted today, and featuring bloody accident footage supplied by the Ohio Highway Patrol, "Mechanized Death" reveals the highways and byways as nightmarish avenues of carnage and destruction. The film remains absolutely relevant today, with its cautionary tales about risk taking, speeding, and -- death. This film from the Ohio State Highway Patrol delivers a powerful message about the devastating consequences of careless driving. Through a series of real-life crash reconstructions, it highlights the deadly impact of speeding, overconfidence, fatigue, mechanical neglect, and driving under the influence. Innocent lives are lost due to preventable choices—rushed decisions, ignored safety measures, and impaired judgment. The recurring plea is clear: take time to think. Whether it's resting during long trips, using seatbelts, or refusing to drive under the influence, drivers hold the responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others. The film ends with a sobering reminder: death is permanent—drive thoughtfully, because your actions matter. |

This is a very good film. It is the definition of "Documenting Reality" and a good example to point out to those who think this site is wrong. That film, which is actually hosted on YouTube, goes further than the rules of this site allow (e.g. dead children) yet is apparently OK when this site is not. Funny that.

Re: 'Mechanized Death'' Classic Scare Video!!
I remember watching 'Red Asphalt' in the early 80s in health class: already WAY out of date, the car styles and general footage pre-date the Jaws of Life even. In one Beavis & Butthead episode, they got to watch 'Bloody Mess Behind the Wheel' in class.... "Dude, his brain fell out!"
