Harrison Scott, a professional Mazda driver is doing alright after a scary crash at Saturday’s Mazda Road to Indy race ahead of the Toronto Indy.

Scott, 22, was caught in a pinch as he was squished into Turn 3 by Antonio Serravalle. Scott hit the wall, clipped a fellow driver, and then flew airborne off the track before crashing into the run-off area after multiple somersaults.

Turn 3 forces drivers to hammer on their breaks as they go from about 140mph down to 30 in just a matter of seconds. Scott hit the breaking zone at a reasonable speed but was launched into the air after riding up on the cars of Sting Ray Robb and Andres Gutierrez.

After being rushed to the medical centre at the track, the Englishman was released after being evaluated with just a scape on his hand and a racing heart. Scott has not been cleared to drive in Sunday’s race.

"I hit the wall, hit his car and after that I was kind out of control. I went over the back of his car then remember seeing a flash of yellow. I remember running off and at that point, I was facing the ground and I remember coming down on my head first and coming to rest at the tire wall. ... It was a huge roller-coaster. For me that was my first time ever rolling a car or a go-kart. It was not nice."
