Jan. 27. India. On the rooftop of a five-storey rented building in New Azad Nagar, a blast occurred while a group of individuals was allegedly assembling crude bombs.

Police recovered gunpowder, detonators and other explosive residues from the site.

Four people were critically injured and as of mid-February, the prime suspect and his mother have succumbed to their injuries.

Shahnawaz M. (26) is the prime accused and a known "history-sheeter" with over 7 pending criminal cases, incl. attempt to murder and explosives offenses. He died from severe burn injuries.

Lizatun B, (51) who was Shahnawaz's mother, and also succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

Shahnawaz's fiancée and an associate named Amiya R.M. remain in critical condition.

The National Investigation Agency joined the probe due to the severity of the blast and suspicions of a wider criminal conspiracy or potential terror links.

Preliminary investigations by the Police suggest the explosives were being prepared for a revenge-driven criminal act.

Forensic teams found traces of RDX and other high-intensity materials at the site.

CCTV footage from the neighborhood captured the massive intensity of the blast, which caused widespread panic in the densely populated area.

The Police continue to monitor the survivors for interrogation once they are medically fit.
