I can't argue that he got what he deserved, but did he really deserve to die of stealing a motorcycle? I worked for a small police department 30 years ago, and this is how we handled stolen vehicle chases, we didn't. A wise cop told me on my first day, "We don't chase speeding cars here. We know who you are and we know where you live. Why endanger the rest of the folks out on the road? We'll just come and get you later, when you're all relaxed and thinking you got away with it." The only reason these idiots go on speeding car chases with the cops, is the cops! Take away the reason for speeding away and they don't crash into innocent drivers and kill themselves.
