Re: The Luckiest Tow Truck Driver

Norway

A Lithuanian truck driver is in stable condition with multiple broken bones after his vehicle fell 196 feet down a snowy cliff, dragging a tow truck with it.
The accident took place in central Norway, about 435 miles north of Oslo.
Police spokesman Geir Riise said the truck was not equipped with the proper tires and was getting towed up the winding mountain road when it slid to the edge and toppled over the guard rail.
The tow truck driver abandoned his vehicle before it was pulled off the road, but the Lithuanian truck driver went down with his rig.
“I don’t know if he turned or braked or what, but he went straight into the safety fence,” tow truck driver Arnt Ove Brattbakk told Norway’s TV 2. “It’s not a good feeling seeing them fall all the way down. … You’re thinking of the man sitting inside the truck. … You don’t expect anyone to be alive after falling down [there].”

Re: The Luckiest Tow Truck Driver

Lucky, very lucky.

11:14pm UK, Monday April 02, 2012

His lorry did not have the right winter tread tires and was stuck on an icy road.

The tow truck driver opened his door as the lorry tipped over.

It was being towed off the mountain pass north of Oslo by a large rescue tow truck when the accident occurred. The lorry slid off the road and dragged the tow truck with it.

The lorry driver was struggling to steer his vehicle as it slid on ice and sideswiped a guard rail.

Moments later, both vehicles crashed through the fence and plunged down the cliff.

The driver of the tow truck managed to jump clear after he sensed the towed lorry was sliding out of control. The tow truck driver jumped clear of his vehicle before it was too late.

The vehicles rolled multiple times in the accident near Leirfjord, around 560 miles from the capital.

Remarkably, the driver of the stranded truck is in stable condition in hospital - he suffered several bone fractures in the accident.

Re: The Luckiest Tow Truck Driver

I KNEW IT! I knew that's Norway. Most of the video I was looking at the hills, the woods, the snow.
