Police officers, firefighters and 118 personnel are operating on the spot, in addition to the helicopter rescue. As it turns out, there is only one injured: the driver of a car transporter who hit the tanker. The man, whose health conditions are unknown, was rushed to the Policlinico Riuniti in Foggia. Instead, the driver of the tanker was unharmed. According to an initial reconstruction, a queue of cars was in progress in that stretch of road. For reasons still under investigation, the heavy vehicle collided with the tanker. There was a first liquid spill, then – the firefighters reconstruct – the explosion occurred. Fortunately, on the other side of the road, there was a team of firefighters engaged in extinguishing brushwood which, before the explosion occurred, made motorists close to the two heavy vehicles away. Following the explosion some pieces of sheet metal were thrown over 400 meters of distance. |
