Lifting Statue of Goddess of Time, Dead, Destruction, Transformation Goes Wrong
A Kali Mata (or Durga) statue in India was destroyed when the 15-foot-tall idol toppled from a crane during a Navratri immersion ceremony.  The crane lost balance, causing the statue to shatter and fall, although thankfully the devotees escaped unharmed, with only the crane driver sustaining minor injuries |

The statue lived up to its purpose. In no time, there was destruction and the Kali Mata (or Durga) did a transformation from statue to garbage. I don't know if anyone died, though.
