In the Sverdlovsk Oblast region, near the Ural Mountains in russia a 35 year old man was walking on a crosswalk when a Lada, driven by a 23 year old man, with 4 years of driving experience, slammed into him making him bounce on the asphalt.

The pedestrian survived the impact but sustained severe multiple injuries and was rushed by ambulance to City Hospital and was admitted directly into the intensive care unit due to the severity of his trauma.

The victim was crossing the street at a designated pedestrian crosswalk. According to investigators, he was wearing dark clothing without any light-reflecting elements.

The driver stated that he was traveling on a green light but failed to see the pedestrian in time due to total darkness.

The driver now faces administrative or criminal liability under Article 12.24 of the Code of Administrative Offenses for inflicting health damage.

If the injuries are legally classified as medium-severity (e.g., non-life-threatening fractures), the penalties under Article 12.24, Part 2 of the russian code of Aadministrative offenses are a fine of 10,000 to 25,000 rubles or the suspension of his driver's license for 1.5 to 2 years.

If a forensic medical examination determines the injuries constitute severe health damage (life-threatening trauma, organ damage or permanent disability), the driver will face criminal prosecution under Article 264, Part 1 of the Criminal code of the russian federation.

The penalties include restriction of freedom for up to 3 years. Mandatory or forced labor for up to 2 years. Imprisonment for up to 2 years. Mandatory revocation of his driver's license for up to 3 years.

OR they'd be happy enough to drop all charges, if he's willing to go put in his max 20-30min. survival time on the front in Ukraine.

Also... the victim was crossing during a green light (you can see it change right after impact) and ran INTO the final lane, trying to cross before traffic (maybe should've waited 'til no cars were coming?). Those cars were far enough apart lane-wise that he might've not been hit if he'd stopped (may as well, if you're already somewhere you shouldn't be).
