Graphic footage has captured the moment a man and child survive being thrown through a windscreen after their car crashes into a van.

The accident was filmed in Russia by a car travelling directly behind the white van before it collides.

The dashcam footage shows a driver lose control of his car travelling in the opposite direction, skidding across the lane barrier and smashing into the oncoming van, sending its occupants flying onto the road.

The man jumps to his feet immediately, seemingly unharmed, and runs to help the child, who can be seen moving and turning.

Onlookers can be heard swearing in disbelief as the man picks up the small child and carries them to safety.

Probably the person was holding onto the child when the car hit.
