Junkyard Owner Tries to Empty a Gas Cylinder Which Turns into a Missile
The owner of a junkyard in Brazil got injured during a gas cylinder explosion when he was trying to empty the cylinder. P. V, 57, works with his son in a workshop that reuses scrap parts and equipment. According to the pair, the handling of industrial equipment is common in the industry in which they work and that a failure in the safety valve made P.V. think that the cylinder was empty. The father tried to force the safety valve out with a screwdriver while sitting on the equipment. It was at this point that the explosion happened and the cylinder turned into a missile Professionals guarantee that the removal of safety valves from high pressure equipment, such as industrial cylinders, is dangerous. According to an engineer, specialized in handling this type of equipment, cutting, drilling or damaging any cylinder under pressure can result in explosions. |

Wow, that's pretty cool how that cylinder takes off like a rocket, and its trajectory was pretty straight...reminds me of an episode on MythBusters that explored the very same thing.
