same here in the philippines. well government tried to build overhead crosswalks but it was always almost a full kilometer away from where it was supposed to be. so not too many use it anyway and still cross wherever and whenever they want to.

it s like you're supposed to cross 1st avenue and they built the crosswalk for it above 6th avenue expecting you to walk back to the 1st avenue happily.
