Re: Ireland - Dublin Crane Tips Over
There was a lucky escape for workmen at the end of Nov. after a crane came crashing down to the ground in the Dublin 15 area. The incident happened in the Blanchardstown area on Thursday morning. In footage the large yellow crane appears to suddenly topple forward, with workers scrambling out of the way. Sisk, the construction company, has confirmed that one of the vehicles "overturned" and that no-one was seriously hurt. The crane belonged to a subcontractor and Sisk also confirmed that the HSA was notified. What we do know is that the crane, a five axle unit from the Tusker Crane Hire fleet, looks like its 200 tonne Terex AC 200-1, with seven section 68 metre boom and what looks like the nine tonne counterweight configuration. For some reason the operator extended the boom over the front, beyond the crane’s capability for this amount of counterweight due to incorrect counterweight information being entered into the LMI. We are told that there was no load on the hook at the time. |
