They must be in an area that's not usually cool enough for the road to ice. On a map the whole country looks as high as Canada so you'd think they would be used to this, but perhaps things are different in a desert environment.  I'm not going to lie, I'd probably be one of the guys trying to break at the last minute that ends up plowing into another car at full speed. I've driven in ice like twice in my life.  |

In an area where it doesn't ice over very often this is not so hard to believe. Especially on a bridge, they tend to be the worst places.
