When he started climbing, the "man-ladder-arrangement" was creating a sizable moment (cantilevered rotational force) at the top, upon the side of the building, while the moment at the bottom of the ladder was relatively small. As he ascended and changed the length of the lever arms, more of the rotational force transferred to the bottom of the ladder, due to the longer lever arm. Finally, the moment at the bottom of the ladder was high enough to tip the scaffold. It was just a coincidence that he reached the system's tipping point at the same time that he was placing the AC on the brackets. |
