Horse Riders Hit by Car Travelling on Wrong Side of the Road
Two horse riders are recovering after being hit by a car on the wrong side of the road. Distressing CCTV footage of the accident in Witcham, near Ely has shocked many people who viewed it. Witcham Equestrian Centre has thanked well wishers for their concern about the riders and horses. The centre said both riders and the two horses are recovering and did not suffer serious injuries. A message posted on the centre's Facebook page read: "Riders are stiff but ok. "We would like to say that we are very grateful for the concern that people have shown for both the horses and riders involved in yesterday's accident. "We will post progress on the horses as appropriate. Patsy had a good night last night and was eagerly looking for treats this morning! Fleur also was fine this morning." The accident happened around 11.30am on Friday when a blue car collided with the horse riders. The driver stopped at the scene and police said they are investigating it like any other road traffic collision. Police confirmed no one was arrested. In the footage of the accident the horses are seen trotting along a road before being hit by a blue car. The horse that was hit is shown flying into a 360 degree turn, while its rider was left hurt on the floor. The car can be seen pulling up to the side of the road towards the end of the footage. Another moron in an SUV. I really do think it's time to ban them, at least then those idiots will have to drive something smaller and lighter so that when they do something stupid they won't do so much damage to those around them  ...

How the hell the horse who took the direct blow didn't end up busting a leg is a minor miracle; I'm guessing the last-second rear it did saved it and it took more of the hit on the chest instead. That is also pretty damned bomb-proof mount. I can only hope that the chestnut horse trotted off-screen to kick the ever living shit out of the fuckwit driver... |

That happened a couple of miles from where I live, we get hgv's coming round the corner on the wrong side of the road, going round roundabouts the wrong way, its no good getting out after the drivers as they don't speak English, I had my CPT course last week for a motorbike, one guy there had not a clue about the highway code or rules of the road here, I said where do you work mate, he said "I drive for haulage company down road", says it all don't it.
