Hit and Run Involving a Suv and a Kid on a Bike, Florida
PASCO COUNTY, Fla. Update: Christopher Micheal Try, 20, the driver involved in a dramatic hit-and-run caught on camera, was arrested on Wednesday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Try was booked into the Pasco County Jail on a felony charge for leaving the scene of an accident involving injury and placed under a $10,000 bond. Try was also charged with reckless driving resulting in the damage of a person and/or property. FHP is still currently looking for the second person of interest in the case, 23-year-old Kevin Wilson. Investigators positively identified Try as the driver after talking with witnesses. Pasco County Mosquito Control workers located what appears to be the SUV involved in the hit-and-run of a Holiday boy on his bike. According to authorities, the workers contacted FHP after they found the vehicle in a heavily wooded area near 4639 US 19, along a private drive behind a Hyundai dealership. A stolen 1998 Ford Expedition hit a vehicle and then a kid on a bike, all without stopping on Monday. Two persons of interest have been identified as 20-year-old Christopher Micheal Try and 23 year-old Kevin Wilson. The fact that 14-year-old Johnny Walsh can stand and show off his bruises is hard to believe. “I got a bruise right here. I got this scratch. I got knots on my hand and this elbow. And then my hip, I got a big knot on it,” said Walsh. Monday afternoon he was riding his bike on the sidewalk along Moog road in Holiday when an out of control Ford Expedition came right at him. “I seen a dude swerve out and I was like what’s going on?,” said Walsh. A neighbor's surveillance video captured the shocking incident, showing an SUV swerving through the dirt, crashing into a parked car, and ramming into Walsh on his bicycle before leaving the scene. “There were kids everywhere. It was just mad chaos,” said neighbor Jackie Lilly. “I thought everything was fake. I was like is this really happening,” said Walsh. The 14-year-old’s quick reaction may have saved him. “It hit the bike, and then I pushed off. Then I hit the floor and I rolled. And then the tire was right in front of me. So I had to hurry up and get out of the way,” Walsh explained. Moments after the crash, surveillance video shows a white car take off following the SUV. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, that driver called 911 as he chased the gold SUV north on US 19. Witness: “I’m in hot pursuit right now!” Dispatcher: “Don’t do that.” Witness: “No. **** that. He just hit a kid. I don’t give a ****.” Dispatcher: “No, if you are speeding after him I don’t want you chasing after him.” That witness was able to tell investigators the tag number. FHP said they still haven’t found the gold Ford Expedition with Florida tag GYCT99, but want to talk to both Try and Wilson who have long criminal histories including several arrests. The woman who owns the Ford appears to be off the hook, although she didn’t report the SUV stolen until the day after the hit-and-run. Her connection to the two men is unclear. “I just got my fingers crossed, hoping these are the right guys,” said the Walsh’s father, Johnny Walsh, Sr. He said he doesn’t understand how troopers haven’t found the driver yet. Meanwhile, the teen is still dealing with his injuries that could have been so much worse. “He wants to play basketball.I hope that don’t injure his hip for life. I just want you to come forward man. Be a man. Come forward,” said Johnny Walsh, Sr. Johnny is hurting and needs a new bike. But he has a survival story you might not believe, if it wasn’t all caught on video. Christopher Try’s mother said she’s told her son to turn himself in and talk to FHP. But he’s telling her he wasn’t behind the wheel and it was Kevin Wilson who was driving. |

Kid was lucky to have good reaction times. He barely escaped with his life and he knows it. The scumbags in the SUV need to be caught and caught quickly before they harm anyone else. |

They should charge the POS with attempted murder as it it stands he will probably be out on parole before the kid is even healed.
