First... Bikers don´t belong in traffic.

Second... Good people! Nice to see that there are some who still have some balls left.

First... Motorists need to accept that Cyclists are traffic too. Sorry that we slow you down, but we have a right to be there too. You have a right to be on the road, you don't have the right go as fast as you want at the expense of others. it's a society. we are all part of it...

Re: Hit-And-Run Foiled By Other Drivers

A Pennsylvania bus driver and teenager teamed up to help catch a hit-and-run driver by blocking him on a bridge after he crashed into a cyclist.
The good deed was captured by cameras on the Fahy Bridge in Bethlehem, as a black car smashed into the back of cyclist Frank Pavlick making his way along the road.
The driver of the black car tried to escape by aggressively weaving through traffic and went to pass Richard Gubish's bus.
Manoeuvering his bus sideways, Gubish turned his vehicle into a make-shift two lane road block and was assisted by 17 year old Jud Smull who blocked any chance the offending driver had of reversing away.
Holding the driver in their make-shift highway prison, the pair of unexpected heroes then waited for the police to turn up to apprehend the want-away driver of the black car.
'I saw images of the sky and the concrete whirl around like in a kaleidoscope, and then I heard all kinds of sounds and realised it was my body making impact with the ground,' said Frank Pavlick.
'It was unexpected, I heard the explosion of my rear wheel and my tire.'
Seeing the incident unfold in front of him, Smull who is seen driving the silver car in the video clip barely had time to react.
'The biker stood up and signaled me to follow the guy to, I assume, to get his license plate, so that's what I tried to do,' said Smull.
Meanwhile bus driver Gubish realised that the driver is trying to escape.
'At that time I blocked the bridge with the bus, pretty much both lanes and he couldn't get around the bus,' said Gubish.
While cyclist Pavlick suffered bruises and lost his bike, he later expressed his thanks at a civic ceremony held to honour Gubish and Smull.
'I've been waiting to meet both of you guys and say thanks publicly and privately,' he said.
The driver was charged with two traffic violations, and he's the first in Bethlehem to be fall foul of a new state law that says cars must give bikes four feet of clearance when they pass.
'It warms your heart to see that people still care about one another enough to put themselves out there to take immediate action and do the right thing,' said Bethlehem Police Commissioner Jason Schiffer.

Re: Hit-And-Run Foiled By Other Drivers

good peeps...the biker was in the technically legal lane for a bike (they are not for pedestrian WALK ways)

People like the fucker that got caught are the type that make my blood boil...we live in a world full of irresponsible cowards and nitwits.

Re: Hit-And-Run Foiled By Other Drivers

It looks very dangerous, there should be signs and all that good stuff so vehicles will know to watch the hell out for bikers.

You are supposed to keep a car length or two behind the driver in front of you, but many ppl dont do that! You can see the vehicles avoiding the biker, getting into the 2nd lane, but then the vehicle behind that vehicle has to get in the 2nd lane quickly, so on and so on. The black car involved in hitting the biker, overtook the car that was in front of it and behind the bus, the bus obscured the vision obviously of the bicycle, the black car was probably too close to the bus and was not able to get in the 2nd lane quicker.

They REALLY need to plan this roadway out better, seems like it is bound to happen again!

So what is the other path for? I see the path for joggers/walkers, but that other path next to it is empty. Is that path solely designated for people intent on suicide or contemplation of it? They should turn that one to be the bike lane.

Re: Hit-And-Run Foiled By Other Drivers

I'm glad to be a cyclist in Europe instead of the US. :) I would grab my car on a road like that.
