I totally understand the violence (though I may not have reacted the same way) but anyway, first thing you do in cases like these if you want to be the problem-solver (instead of the police): you grab the motorist's keys from the dash. After that you've got em by the balls.

Umm ok , shame the door was locked and the window was up , I figured that out by the way the angry guy tried pulling on the door handle and was ramming his shoulder into the window , but I might be wrong and just perhaps Mr Angry guy didn't think of grabbing the keys
