Fleeing Chevrolet Suburban Slams into FedEx Truck at Intersection
Council Bluffs, Iowa. A crash occurred at approx. 12:40 a.m. on Wednesday, at the intersection of 24th Street and Veterans Memorial Highway. Council Bluffs officers originally attempted to pull over a Chevrolet Suburban after discovering it was driving with stolen license plates out of Lincoln, Nebraska. Instead of stopping, the driver fled from police at high speeds, racing down residential streets. Traffic camera footage captured by the Iowa Department of Transportation shows the SUV speeding through the intersection with multiple police cruisers in pursuit, before slamming head-on directly into the cab of a FedEx tractor-trailer hauling double trailers. The SUV driver survived and was transported to an Omaha hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The FedEx driver escaped without any major injuries and declined medical treatment at the scene. The Council Bluffs Police Department is seeking arrest warrants for the SUV driver on multiple counts, including eluding law enforcement and reckless driving · · · |
